Read-Only, User-Directed Access

LitEx follows a least-privilege access model. The application requests only the access necessary to perform the email collection function knowingly selected by the user. Google requires applications to request the smallest set of scopes necessary to provide the functionality chosen by the user.

LitEx's public product documentation specifically states that it uses least-privilege, read-only access and limits collection to the authenticated mailbox and the date range and filters defined by the user.

What LitEx Accesses

LitEx accesses only email data made available through the Google authorization granted for the email collection function.

LitEx's Gmail interface supports user-defined sender, recipient, subject, attachment, filename, size, date, label, and related Gmail search criteria.

LitEx does not use broad mailbox access as an invitation to inspect unrelated email. Its published behavior expressly states that emails the user did not select are outside the collection scope.

How Google User Data Is Used

Google user data is used solely to provide LitEx's email acquisition functionality selected by the user. That functionality allows the user to retrieve specified email messages and their associated email data for local processing and storage.

LitEx's published product description identifies direct email acquisition, preservation of original email files and associated information, and least-privilege access as core application functionality.

LitEx does not use Google user data for advertising, targeted advertising, sale, or unrelated profiling.

LitEx's use of Google user data is limited to practices disclosed in this policy and is intended to conform to Google's Limited Use requirements. Google requires use of API data to be limited to providing or improving user-facing features that are prominent in the requesting application.

Sharing and Transfer

Forensalytic does not sell Google user data.

LitEx is a Windows desktop application that processes and stores the collected email data locally on the user's machine or at the storage location designated by the user. The published LitEx documentation states that no evidence is transmitted to LitEx servers.

Google user data is not transferred to unrelated third parties. Any transfer must be necessary to provide the user-facing feature requested by the user, be consistent with this policy, and comply with Google's applicable Limited Use requirements. Google expressly restricts transfers of Google API data except for defined purposes such as providing user-facing features, security, legal compliance, or certain corporate transactions with the required consent.

LitEx does not permit routine human review of the content of Google user data as part of normal application operation. Any access outside the ordinary automated operation would be limited to circumstances permitted by applicable law and Google's User Data Policy.

Storage and Security

LitEx performs its normal email collection and evidence-processing workflow locally on the user's Windows computer. The user controls the location in which collected email data is stored.

LitEx is not designed to maintain a centralized cloud repository of collected email data. The published product documentation states: "No evidence is transmitted to LitEx servers."

LitEx uses the authorization mechanism of the connected provider. The EULA also states that LitEx uses user-authorized OAuth connections and does not maintain persistent custody of credentials.

Retention and Deletion

Google email data collected by LitEx is retained according to the user's local workflow and chosen storage destination rather than being maintained as a LitEx-hosted cloud dataset.

The user controls the local copies created through LitEx and can delete or manage them using the operating system and storage locations under the user's control.

LitEx does not conduct ongoing background mailbox collection after a user-requested collection operation has completed.

Third-Party Service Privacy

LitEx may connect to email services that the user explicitly authorizes. The provider remains responsible for its own handling of account information and data while that data remains within the provider's systems.

Google's own privacy and API policies govern Google's handling of Google account data. LitEx's handling of data obtained through Google APIs is governed by this Privacy Policy and the applicable Google API Services User Data Policy.

Users should review the privacy practices of connected providers independently of this policy.

Your Controls

• You decide whether to authorize LitEx to access your Google account.
• You decide which email collection function to use.
• You specify the date range and email filters for the collection request.
• You can decline authorization or revoke authorization through Google account controls.
• You control the local storage location and local copies created by the application.
• You can discontinue a collection operation rather than providing further access.

Google requires OAuth permissions to be limited to the minimum relevant access necessary for the requested application functionality.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when LitEx's data practices or Google API integrations change, or when required by law or applicable Google policies.

The published policy will identify the effective and last-updated dates. Material changes affecting the use of Google user data will be disclosed before the changed use is implemented where required.

Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern the use of the LitEx application provided by Forensalytic LLC. By using LitEx, the user agrees to these terms.

LitEx is a Windows desktop application designed for user-directed email acquisition. The application operates on a read-only, least-privilege model and performs processing locally on the user's system.

The user is solely responsible for ensuring that their use of LitEx complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations, including those governing access to email data and digital evidence.

LitEx does not modify, transmit, or store user email data on external servers as part of its normal operation. All collected data is stored locally in locations controlled by the user.

Forensalytic LLC makes no warranties regarding uninterrupted operation, accuracy of collected data, or fitness for a particular purpose. The application is provided on an 'as-is' basis.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Forensalytic LLC shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use LitEx.

Use of Google services through LitEx is subject to Google's own terms and policies. The user remains responsible for their Google account and associated permissions.

These Terms may be updated periodically. Continued use of LitEx after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
